The fund managers called a late night session for the entire batch on
13th February 2008. The agenda for the meeting was to introduce the
demat account to those who did not operate one. Demos on how to buy
and sell shares and how to operate a demat account otherwise were
given. Terms such as limit order, disclosed quantity, trigger price
and short selling to name a few were explained to the batch. A brief
introduction to technical analysis using candlestick charting was also
give to the batch. It culminated with the investment teams making
presentations on the stocks they liked in their respective sectors.
Even the foreign exchange students from France attended the session
and were highly impressed by the student driven initiatives at IIFT,
Delhi. After the meeting they stayed back and discussed the
functioning of the mutual fund with the fund managers as they wanted
to take back the idea and look at setting up something similar in
their college. Just another one of the many examples of how IIFT –
School of International Business, New Delhi is setting an example for
B-schools all around the world.
