Mr. K.T. Chacko, IAS, 1973 is borne on the M.P.
Cadre. He holds Masters Degree in Economics from the University of
Kerala and was awarded three gold medals for obtaining first rank in the
State. He did Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University,
USA specializing in areas such as International Trade and Monetary
Policy.
Apart from holding posts in the Government of Madhya Pradesh such as
Development commissioner, Secretary Forest, Environment Commissioner,
Divisional Commissioner, Director, Institutional Finance, etc., he also
worked in the Government of India.
During 1985 to 1987 Mr. Chacko was Private Secretary to the then
Commerce Ministers and subsequently till 1989 he worked as Director
(Trade Policy division), Ministry of Commerce.
Mr. Chacko also had a three-year stint as Resident Director of India
Investment Centre, Singapore during 1989 to 1991.
During 1997 to 2002 he functioned as executive Director, India trade
Promotion Organization.
Mr. Chacko held the crucial assignment of Director General of Foreign
Trade, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India during Sept. 2004 to
Oct. 2006.
He Joined IIFT as Director for a 5 year term on 5.3.2007. |
