Debrief of the Chennai Annual Alumni Chapter Meet, 2007

The Chennai alumni meet initially scheduled for the 9th June 2007 was held on the 24th June 2007. There were 47 alumni who had come for the event and there were some accompanied by spouses, in total the gathering was estimated to of 65-70 people.

The event started with the welcome address by the Chapter Head Mr. Jayseelan. Dr. Pinaki Dasgupta later gave a complete update on the happenings in the campus for the academic session 2006-08. This was followed by Q&A session, wherein the points that came up for discussion were:

1. The basic aspects of International Trade and particularly, the documentation part also needs to be reviewed with the students, who seem to be lacking in these areas.

2. It was also deliberated in the meet about the area of project Management can be incorporated as a part of the curriculum

3. It was also felt that the perennial issue of discussion about how does IIFT get showcased as a International Business institution or a general management B-School

4. Finally, there was also discussion about lack of student presence at IIFT Delhi from south India. If it is possible to make IIFT more visible in southern India to increase awareness

All the above queries were addressed by Dr. Pinaki Dasgupta. The function concluded with distribution of memento and distribution of T-Shirt to alumni. Finally, the floor was open for cocktails and dinner.
