 Debrief of the Delhi Annual Alumni Chapter Meet, 2007

Venue- Kota House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi.


The Annual Alumni Chapter Meet, 2007 was held in Delhi on the 2nd of June, at Kota House. It was the first time that the chapter meet was organised in Delhi. The meet was held in Naval Officers’ Mess, Kota House in the lush green environs of the banquet lawns. Although it was a bit hotter in the day but the evening was pleasant.

 Registration   More than 65 alumni were present for the meet with a few bringing their spouses along. The Executive council members including the director, Mr. K.T. Chacko, Chairpersons (GSD), Dr. S. Bhatia, Dr. P. Dasgupta and 22 students from the current 06-
08 batch were also present. The registration fee of Rs. 400 per alumni was taken as a nominal charge from the alumni. The same amount was charged from the students also.

 Welcome note   Though the time mentioned was 7:30 pm, it is only after 8 pm that the alumni started coming in for the meet. As the alumni trickled in, after a gathering of about 60 people, a welcome address and formal presentation were given by the organizer of the meet. Despite of being the Saturday evening, people were interested in the presentation. Alumni were curious to know about current happenings at their Alma Mater, the new initiatives of the alumni coordinator as well as the improving placement scenario the alumni were impressed with the growth of IIFT as an institution.

 Director’s Address   The presentation was followed by an address by the director Mr. K.T. Chacko. He started his speech saying that he was not there to enjoy the party but he was there as the host. He emphasized the tremendous strides IIFT had made in the recent years and how IIFT needs help from it’s alumni in this journey of excellence.

 Cocktail dinner  Being the naval mess, Kota House had fantastic arrangements for cocktails and food. Alumni had a really good time, having drinks with their fellow IIFTians in such a beautiful environment. As the night went on, the alumni moved to the lower lawns for dinner where a sumptuous selection of dishes added to the wonderful
flavor of the alumni night.

 Music  A DJ was arranged at the venue which made the environment even more beautiful with the superb music and songs. As per the rules, music was stopped at 10:30 pm in the night, but that much time was good enough for the alumni to enjoy the party.

 Bouncie  To take care of the children a bouncie was arranged on the venue. Children enjoyed it a lot and their parents had free time to enjoy the party. Alumni liked the arrangement a lot.

 Alma Mater  Copies of Alma Mater, annual magazine of IIFT was distributed among the alumni at the end of the meet. As per the rules, the party was to be wrapped up by 11:30 pm. It ended at around that
time.
