Celebrations at IIFT:
Surbhi, MBA-International Business, 2005-07

7 a.m. in the morning…… a bunch of students… some fully awake and some partially… all of them running towards their classes…. due from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m……. the day full of lectures, presentations, few submissions… and not to forget … paper writing competitions. You might be wondering what am I talking about… But for an IIFTian this is a “part” of daily schedule….

Part… does it sound too vague?? After 12 hrs of classes... is there still something left that can be form the other “part”??

Yes, The Snapshot of “Life at IIFT” is not complete until and unless we talk about that other ‘part’ which we all look forward to.

An IIFTian is generally pictured as a complete nerd, a geek… with properly oiled and combed hair (not to forget the middle partition), a book worm busy in making fantabulous presentations. But, the real picture is A LOT MORE………..only to be seen and felt by a true IIFTian.

Though we have our share of classes and corporate lectures and presentations but that’s not what we call as “Life at IIFT”. Life at IIFT is; enjoying the holiday we get occasionally and is one of those movies like Rang De Basanti…. full of enthusiasm, full of energy.

Round the clock someone or the other is working on something... IIFT never sleeps as we proudly say.

The best part of being at IIFT is a residential campus. Some 200 odd students away from their homes still live in a home, in the “home” of IIFT. The camaraderie developed between us; let it be a senior or junior is just the best thing. May it be a Birthday or any other celebration, the batch collects at the hostel entrance and showers the boy/girl with all their love and affection…. There is absolutely no chance of missing home…..

Festivals like Lohri, Diwali and Holi are not far from the limelight. They are given due importance, the batch being culturally diverse celebrates the festivals of all communities, and we end up celebrating either by dancing around a bonfire with mungfallis and revadis or lighting candles in front of our hostel rooms.

Not far from the madding crowd are the parties where the most unskilled dancer is also not afraid to shake a leg or two and not to mention the “cultural nites” at IIFT where we prove the multifaceted skills of our batch… (who said we are MAGGOOS)

But when its time to part from your family, bid adieu to your alma mater; that’s a moment in our lives when we will just miss it all.

But as they say, “ALL good things  come to an end” so will our stay at IIFT …but these two years will always make me say myself “I am proud to be a part of this family”.
