The MDP at IIFT can be categorised into
the following three broad groups based on their focus:

Programmes
Open MDP
The Institute offers a number of Management Development Programmes
of varying duration on a regular basis. It has also taken the lead
to offer a programme on Export Procedures & Documentation in Hindi
language to cater to the specific needs of local exporters in the
Hindi heartland and Hindi-speaking states.
Participant Profile: Corporate Sector, Entrepreneurs,
Trade Facilitation Agencies, Ministries & Departments of the Government,
Export Promotion Organisations
Subject Areas: Export Procedures & Documentation,
Exim Policy, Import Management, Management of International Contracts,
Management of Foreign Exchange at Corporate Level, Business Logistics
& Shipping, Export Marketing of Select Products (Agro-Products,
Leather & Leather Products, Drugs & Pharmaceuticals), Managerial
Challenges of Globalisation, Marketing for the e-World, Hedging with
Commodity Futures, etc.
Also offered is a special programme for potential exporters, and programmes
on new topics like Ethics in International Business, Industrial Marketing
and Global Tenders, Getting Started in Cross-Border e-Business, etc.
Sponsored
MDP
The Institute conducts sponsored, need-based integrated and specialised
Management Development Programmes, for both government officials and
business executives and officials of trade & industry and trade
promotion agencies. With financial support from the Small Industries
Development Bank of India (SIDBI), training programmes with focus
on the need and requirements of the small-scale sector are being held
in different parts of the country.
Participant Profile: Government officials belonging
to all-India services like Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign
Service, Indian Economic Service, Directorate General of Foreign Trade,
Indian Police Service, etc. The Institute also conducts social Programmes/Seminars
on WTO like WTO and the New Trade Regime for IAS Officers/State Level
Officials and WTO & Allied Issues, etc.
Clients: Organisations for which such programmes
have been conducted in the recent past include Rockefeller Foundation,
Itochu Corporation, SAIL, ECGC, Ranbaxy, INDAL, NALCO, ITC, Visakhapatnam
Steel Plant, STC, MMTC, Dena Bank, CIMMCO International, NIS/NITT,
Spices Board, RICEM, NABARD, NSIC, KVIC, DOPT, ISGEC, IITTM, NHDC,
SIPARD, Tobacco Board, Tariff Commission, Sports Goods Export Promotion
Council, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Directorate-General
of Resettlement, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Defence, Central
Statistical Organisation, etc.
Offering training facilities to co-developing countries in Asia, Africa
and Latin America has been a regular feature of the Institute’s
activity. Special programmes have also been organised at the instance
of the International Trade Centre, UNCTAD/WTO, and the Commonwealth
Secretariat. Mention may be made of the Faculty Interaction Programme
organised for Faculty Members of the Sierra Leone Trade and Investment
School, Free Town.
Collaborative
MDP
The Institute conducts Collaborative Programmes with renowned institutions.
So far, MDP have been conducted in collaboration with Maharashtra
Small Scale Industries Development Corporation, International Institute
of Foreign Trade & Research, Indore, Institute of Rail Transport,
and Matrix Consulting Group, New Delhi.
The programmes were conducted on:
1. WTO: Threats and Opportunities – 8 districts in Maharashtra
2. Challenges & Opportunities for Promotion of High Value Added
Exports
3. Managing Trade Logistics for Improving Global Competitiveness
4. Intellectual Property Law in India
