The above words deftly summarize the successful culmination of year round efforts of the batch of 2004-2006 to enhance their capabilities and position themselves to add value to leading campus recruiters. In all, 75 companies participated in the lateral and non-lateral placements and recruited students from diverse educational backgrounds and work experience ranging from zero to forty months. Trading majors like Olam International and Backes and Strauss underscored their faith in IIFT students with their early participation. In addition, coveted employers from the resurgent FMCG sector, (such as Nestle, ITC, Colgate-Palmolive, Dabur and Godrej) conducted exhaustive processes to ensure successful profile matching. The banking sector was well represented by ICICI Bank, UTI bank and SBI – organizations that reposed their confidence by offering profiles ranging from corporate finance and treasury to relationship management. The booming telecom sector was led by the Bharti group, while pharmaceutical and medical treatment majors like Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Becton Dickinson also offered much sought-after profiles. The average salary offered was INR.8.1 lakhs p.a. with the highest international package being USD 100,000 p.a. and the highest domestic package being INR 10.66 lakhs p.a.

 Laterals

The batch of 2006 had varied educational and professional backgrounds, with 45% of the students having work experience of at least 12 months. Recruiters from varied sectors such as IT and Trading recognized this distinct advantage and chose to offer unique lateral profiles to eligible candidates. Companies such as IBM, HP, CSC, AWB, iGate, Accenture and Wipro contributed to a successful lateral placement schedule, making 39 offers, of which 25 were accepted.

Summer Placements

The Summer Placement process for the batch of 2005-07 set a positive and ambitious tone for all placement activities last year. The process got a huge impetus with 30% of the batch being placed within the first week of October, by leading brand names such as HLL, ITC, ABMC, Pepsico, WIPRO, Coca Cola, Genpact, Nestle and Colgate-Palmolive. On the whole, the batch of 115 students was placed across diverse sectors including Consulting, Banking, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, IT and Trading.
